Coralis
Coral reefs are home to more than 25% of marine species, but make up less than 0.2% of the ocean. They are an integral part of the biodiversity of our planet and essential to our ecosystem.
Unfortunately they are also very sensitive to temperature change. Just a 1-2°C increase in water temperature can cause coral to eject their algae, which is devastating to the coral reef. The IPCC’s forecasts anticipate a global temperature increase of 1.5°C by 2050, and if nothing is done we could lose these incredible areas of our ecosystem within only a few decades.
By using the dynamic growth pattern of coral as inspiration, Coralis aims to create a sanctuary to protect biodiversity and foster protection of coral reefs and the ecosystems they support.
